Volumic 3D sonar:
Volumic understanding of the entire Ecosystem
Biomass estimation becomes more realistic as it covers much wider volumes than conventional Sounders, and offers much better accuracy than with Omni sonars. SeapiX raises the probability of detecting fish by a factor of 200 compared with normal fish finder sounders, and by a factor or 20 compared with conventional multibeam echosounders.
The shoal is monitored in full, including its behavior around the vessel. Biomass evaluation is applicable on the entire shoal and provides thousands of single fish detections for processing of fish class discrimination.
According to the fishing methods, the skipper will choose the best configuration so that he always gets the most timely and pertinent indications.
SeapiX can operate as a “Downward Looking” configuration, or as a “Forward Looking” or “Side Looking” 3D multibeam Sonar.
3 Echogram sectors are formed from 1° to 120° aperture, from whatever Swath (Along or Across track), offering very flexible capability for finding, analyzing and understanding fish behavior.

Fish Finding Echograms
ECHO display mode produces fishing Echograms. It represents the content of a single 120° swath as a conventional history Echogram. Thanks to SeapiX’ motion stabilization, advanced FM modulation principle and narrow individual beams, the ECHO provides an extremely sharp bottom and biomass definition.
SeapiX provides one, two or three independent echograms, with free adjustments of opening sector and tilt from port to starboard. This affords the skipper the exclusive benefit of being able to search through 20 times more water volume in real-time.
Triple echograms can be generated from one of the 4 multibeam swaths (STV, STT, SAT or SAV).
Calibrated fish measurements in TS or SV modes (Fishery Research metrics) provide skippers with reliable information on fish species acoustic responses. Through experience, the skipper can learn about the specifications of particular species. Biomass detection data is extracted in accordance with the skipper’s filter criteria: location, layer, TS or SV response.
Skippers improve their ability to anticipate shoal behavior in front of or to the side of the ship, giving an outstanding advantage for preventing well-known shoal avoidance effects when passing below the keel.
Fish Mapping
SeapiX merges real-time fish data and navigation to provide Biomass mapping. This unique feature helps the skipper to locate shoals to target.
Fish mapping presentation is available in 2D and 3D. Seafloor characteristics, vessel navigation and Trawl behavior are shown at the same time for better understanding of fishing action.
GBA analyser
Fish species TS ranking
GBA is the new “Geographical Biomass Analyzer” developed by iXblue. This functionality is unique in commercial fishery activities.
Every single acoustic detection of a fish target logs its geographical position. Fish echoes come from all SeapiX swaths in action, providing several thousand detections of fish on shoal or scattered fishes.
GBA is a statistical processing tool, able to compute fish echo distribution from an entire water volume.
These volumetric distribution histogram calculations can be described according to several filtering criteria, such as minimum & maximum acoustic response levels, or minimum and maximum depth of the studied water layer, and according to the selected geographic area or according to the history of fish detections.
Biomass can be extracted, analyzed and displayed in 2D and 3D views by selecting fish from any echogram views or from 2D biomass mapping views.
SeapiX’ GBA functions gather a huge quantity of single fish detections and process them in real-time.
When the operator selects a shoal, the histogram shows the spread in various acoustic responses for each fish category or species.
At any time, the skipper can save the acoustic response - according to filtering criteria - of a shoal or fish as a “class” in the GBA database. He will subsequently be able to recall it in order to extract and filter the desired class.
The distribution of classes is automatically computed by the SeapiX GBA. This ratio in % shows the observed relative % of each class in the biomass database.
The ratio % computed by SeapiX is the percentage of each class in the selected Ecosystem, according to the biomass selection (from the Echogram or from the 2D area frame) and the water layer selected.

Bathymetry
Whatever the skipper's actions on SeapiX, the STV sonar mode will build accurate bathymetry with embedded motion sensor compensation, reaching IHO 1 certification for hydrography mapping.
Thanks to its along-track swath, SeapiX also carries out forward-Looking bathymetry, for instance to prevent risk of trawl damage.
Hardness
Bottom hardness is processed using an innovative method, mixing vertical and tilted swath measurements for reliable bottom discrimination presentation. Bottom hardness is an absolute and calibrated data providing the skipper with reproducible & reliable seafloor discrimination.
Roughness
In order to provide to the skipper with self-generated bottom type recognition, he can activate the side scan imaging sonar mode SIL (Sonar Imaging Lateral), which gives a monochrome acoustic picture with shadow effects. This gives an interesting match with the hardness measurement to help discriminate bottom types.
Rich data to Olex
A real time bathymetry data stream is available for Olex systems.
Olex users retain their own methods and experience in handling the bathymetric data on their 3D bathy software.
They take advantage of the extensive, robust SeapiX seafloor data to implement their bathy database.
Strategy console
SeapiX revolutionizes fishing techniques by providing optimally accurate information about an unparalleled underwater spatial volume, while merging the skipper’s fishing plans and fish detection sonar data.
For the first time, the skipper is assisted by a tactical console that provides a global fishing action picture. This makes it possible to take informed decisions swiftly, with real positive impact on profitability.
Backed by thirty years of experience in geographical information systems, Sodena IXBLUE takes advantage of its latest Gecdis technology and has built the Turbo Tactic core into the SeapiX processing chain. This state of the art ECS type Geographical Information System brings Seapix full high-end fishing plotter capabilities.
Every item of acoustic data processed by SeapiX is insNews & instantaneously plotted and stored into the skipper’s database for real-time or deferred analysis. SeapiX is a powerful multilayer fishing data analyzer that offers advanced users object filtering methods. Interfaced to sensors available on board (net control, radar, Oceano data service, logbook, fuel meter, etc.…), SeapiX superimposes relevant information to enhance skipper efficiency.
2D and 3D Modes give the skipper effective views for optimizing fishing strategic. In addition, all other SeapiX modes can also display plotter information within the acoustic sonar images.
